SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK
Shenandoah may be popular in the fall, but
the summer is just as good, if not better. The
park has over 10 waterfalls to hike to, and
backcountry camping is welcome in most of
the park. With over 500 miles of hiking trails,
there’s no excuse to not get outdoors this
summer and hike the trails.
Guides welcome visitors,
and they will take you
through the park and
introduce you to almost any
activity you can think of,
including rock climbing,
biking, and fly-fishing.
Group hikes and activities are open, so be
sure to check the schedule and reserve your
spot. Wondering which trail to hike? Try a sec-
tion of the famous Appalachian Trail!
If hiking and hands-on activities aren’t for you,
cruise along the Skyline Drive, where you’ll be
nestled into the crest of the Blue Ridge Moun-
tains, which provide some of the best views
in the country. Looking for a place to stay dur-
ing your trip? Try camping under the night sky.
There are options available for campgrounds
with amenities, as well as backcountry expe-
riences, depending on your skill level. If you
are looking for something more comfortable,
try Skyland. Skyland, the highest point of the
Skyline Drive, offers lodging and amenities for
those who aren’t quite ready to leave.
Whether you’re looking for a quaint cabin in
seclusion, or a premium suite with a fireplace,
Skyland has you covered. Take a horseback
ride during your stay and unwind with a drink
and a meal in their on-site restaurant. Visit
www.goshenandoah.com for more informa-
tion, as spots can fill up quickly, especially in
late summer to early fall.
