Prof . Ilango Ponnuswami is currently Professor , Department of Social Work , Mangalore University , Mangalore , India . Earlier , he held the position of Professor and Head , Department of Social Work , Bharathidasan University , Tiruchirappalli in South India and prior to that , served as Reader in Social Work with the Bishop Heber College , Tiruchirappalli , India for over 21 years . He has a Ph . D in Social Work from the Bharathidasan University , and an M . Phil Degree in Psychiatric Social Work from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences ( NIMHANS ), Bangalore , India . Besides , with a Fellowship from the UNFPA and the UN International Institute on Ageing , Malta , he successfully pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in gerontology and geriatrics at the Institute of Gerontology , University of Malta . Dr Ilango Ponnuswami was a Cairns Institute visiting scholar at the James Cook University , Australia during 2012 . He is also an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Transformative Education published by SAGE . Ines Zuchowski is a social worker , currently employed as a Lecturer at James Cook University , Australia . Ines graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work in the early 1990 ’ s . Since then she has worked primarily in community based organisations , focusing on violence prevention and women ' s services , and engaging with all groups of people through direct service delivery , group work , community work , policy development and management of services . The main focus of her work has been preventing violence against women and children and addressing this through individual intervention , group work and community development strategies .
