Sitting with my iPad on my lap when I noticed the thing is hot as hell! This has started to be quite the regular occurance when one day in chat someone else mentioned it. The answer given: lower your brightness.
I went to my iPad settings and lowered the brightness and turned off the auto-brightness. My iPad has run noticeable cooler ever since.
