Looking for Work Protect yourself from employment fraud. Finding a job can be a frustrating experience. When job hunting, beware of the signs of an employment scam. Here are some things to watch out for:  You are told to pay a fee in order to apply for a job.  You are asked to give your personal information “for the human resources department,” actually the intention is to steal your identity. Employment Fraud  You receive a job offer that promises a large pay cheque in return for little or no work. There are many different kinds of employment scams. One of the most common is the “work from home” scheme. The advertised job promises you will be able to work from home with pay way above market rate for the services required. You may be asked to pay a large upfront fee to cover start-up costs which you will supposedly earn back quickly. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
