Exposition of 1893
This World Fair drew over 27 million visitors
to Chicago during a 6 month period in 1893.
Hosting this event had a major impact on
Chicago’s architecture and resulted in the
nickname “The White City” due to the
appearance of its massive white buildings.
In addition, many new technologies were
showcased. Learn all about this event that
brought worldwide attention to Chicago—
