Publishing a Desktop application
Most desktop computers have the Flash Player installed with their browsers, but
you may want to distribute your movie to someone who doesn’t have the Flash
Player or who has an older version. Perhaps you just want your movie to run with-
out a browser.
You can output your movie as a projector, which is a stand-alone file that includes
the Flash Player with your movie. Because a projector contains the Flash Player,
projector files are larger than SWF files.
You can also output your movie as an AIR file, which installs an application on the
user’s desktop. Adobe AIR is a more robust runtime environment that supports
a broader range of technologies. Viewers download the free Adobe AIR runtime
from Adobe’s Web site at http://get.adobe.com/air/.
creating a projector
You must create a projector that is specific for Windows or for the
Macintosh. However, you can create both kinds of projectors from
either platform.
1 Choose File > Publish Settings, or click the Publish Settings
button in the Profile section of the Properties inspector.
2 Deselect the Flash and HTML Wrapper formats. Select Win
Projector and Mac Projector.
