Christian University of Southern Indiana,, welcomes the opportunity to receive recommendations and nominations of persons in the ministry who deserve Special Recognition and Honor of receiving the Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree. An honorary degree or a degree honoris causa (Latin:”for the sake of the honour”) is an academic degree for which a university (or other degree-awarding institution) has waived the usual requirements, such as matriculation, residence, study and the passing of examinations. The degree is typically a doctorate or, less commonly, a master’s degree, and may be awarded to someone who has no prior connection with the academic institution. Christian University of Southern Indiana, as with most institutions of higher education, does award Honorary Degrees. CUSI welcomes the opportunity to receive Recommendations and Nominations of persons in the ministry who deserve the Special Recognition and Honor of receiving the Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree. However each applicant must meet the criteria established by the CUSI Board of Regents/Trustees which will also be based upon their evaluation of information provided about the candidates. The Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree will be conferred upon distinguished Pastors, Evangelists, Ministers, and other Christian Leaders or Public Servants who have made significant contributions in their respective fields or for the extension of God’s Kingdom. *CUSI does not sell its Honorary Degrees, however there is a suggested donation amount of $2500.00. All Honorary Degrees are awarded solely for the accomplishments and contributions that a person has made*

HOW TO APPLY FOR AN HONORARY DOCTORATE DEGREE
Doctor of Divinity
Qualifications:
Must be at least 35 years old.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
Send us copies of all of your degrees, credentials, licenses, or other documentation.
Send us a recent photo.
Write a one to two page statement listing your qualifications and why you believe you or the candidate should be awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree.
Produce substantial evidence that you are a licensed and ordained Minister of the Gospel. Verify that you have had at least 15 or more years of ministerial experience.
Prepare or present a typed two-page summary or resume of your work for the Lord. Secure the endorsements of three other ordained Ministers
or other prominent Church leaders.
Prepare a 20 page Essay/Research Paper on one of the following topics:
The Life of Christ - The Holy Spirit - Youth Ministries - Sacred Music - Church Growth Methods - World Missions - Divine Healing - Heaven and Hell
The Five Fold Ministry - Evangelism Theology
You may also select your own topic but it must be approved by the President.
Doctor of Sacred Music Degree
Qualifications:
Must be at least 35 years old.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
Send us copies of all of your degrees, credentials, licenses, or other documentation.
Send us a recent photo.
Write a one to two page statement listing your qualifications and why you believe you should be awarded an Honorary Degree.
Produce substantial evidence that you are a licensed and ordained
Minister of the Gospel.
Verify that you have had at least 15 or more years of ministerial experience.
Produce substantial evidence that you are an accomplished, faithful, anointed and seasoned music ministry leader and or Composer/Songwriter. You will need to produce a video tape not more than 30 minutes in length demonstrating your musical abilities and talents.
Prepare or present a typed two-page summary or resume of your work for the Lord.
Secure the endorsements of three other ordained Ministers and or other prominent Church leaders.
If you are a composer/songwriter you will need to submit no less than 6 completed and recorded compositions for review that meet with the above criteria.
Prepare a 50 page Essay/Research Paper on the following topic: Sacred Music
You may also select your own topic but it must be approved by the President or the Dean of Administration.
