HEY PARTNER, SADDLE UP WITH US!
CCASC now offers horseback riding to participants with
disabilities.
Thanks to the generosity of local ranch owners Julie and
Gary Winter, CCASC provides riding programs during
the summer. Julie donates her time and expertise as our
lead instructor and provides the
truck and six- horse transport
trailer.
CCASC’s horseback program
includes lessons in how to care for
and ride the Winters’ six beautiful,
well-trained “polo ponies.”
Many of our participants have told
us the therapeutic value of
horseback riding has added a new
dimension to their experience with CCASC.
All horseback programs take place on mountain trails in
the Shaver Lake area. As with all of our programs, we
invite the participation of family and friends.
Please contact us for more information and to make a
reservation for the summer season. We offer one horse
program each month in June, July, August and September.
They are popular and will fill quickly, so make your
reservation early.
CCASC also offers many other adaptive sports
opportunities in the summer, featuring day and
weekend-long programs including kayaking,
mountain-biking, fly-fishing, paddle-boarding,
rock-climbing, camping, and hiking.
Southern California Edison has generously
designated a secluded camping area on Shaver
Lake for CCASC’s use, facilitated CCASC’s
use of Balsam Forebay for fly-fishing and
kayaking, and allowed access to a fantastic
mountain bike trail where participants can ride
CCASC’s fleet of adaptive cross-country
mountain bikes. We also have set up several
climbing routes on a granite wall accessible from
Shaver Lake by kayak.
Dear CCASC:
Just wanted to say thank you for everything you guys did for me and my son! That was the first time I was able
to go bike riding with him in all of his almost 9 years!! It was truly an unforgettable day in both of our lives!
Please express my gratitude to your entire team! ~ Justin Gibson
