Adaptations: The Central California Adaptive Sports Center Newsletter Issue 4 Newsletter | Page 2
The Central California Adaptive Sports Center (CCASC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering
quality outdoor adventure opportunities to youth and adults with disabilities, including our
veterans. Winter programs include snow skiing, snowshoeing, and mountaineering at and
around China Peak Mountain Resort. Summer programs include kayaking, paddle-boarding,
fly-fishing, rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, and camping in the Shaver
Lake, California area.
Message from the Director:
CCASC was born in 2013 with the goal of providing adaptive mountain sports opportunities to residents of
Central California, a historically underserved area. We began with an all volunteer staff and borrowed
equipment. Now, thanks to the generous support of the community, we operate out of a donated 1,440 square
foot facility at China Peak and an office in the town of Shaver Lake, maintain a fleet of state-of-the-art winter and
summer adaptive sports equipment, and have a staff of dedicated instructors. We have provided more than 800
lessons to persons with disabilities, serving individuals from the Central Valley and other parts of California, as
well as visitors from out-of-state. We are particularly proud to have received funding from the Department of
Veteran’s Affairs Adaptive Sports Program to provide activities to veterans with disabilities, the Christopher and
Dana Reeve Foundation to provide programming for persons with spinal cord injuries, and from Disabled
Sports USA.
Please spread the word and come visit us.
