Jewish Living The Weinstein JCC welcomes everyone to share in the richness of the Jewish heritage. Come and bake challah, dance to Israeli music, enjoy the restfulness of Shabbat, learn about the Jewish holidays and so much more. Programs are offered for people of all ages and are rooted in Jewish values and traditions. Hillel at VCU Hillel at VCU’s mission is to enrich the lives of at VCU Jewish undergraduate students so that they may enrich the Jewish community and the world. Hillel helps to ensure that Jewish life can thrive at VCU by helping to facilitate meaningful Jewish experiences for all students such as informal teaching, and connecting students to each other. Some of the spring activities include Torah learning classes, Israel week, social action projects, Purim party, a Passover Seder and social events. HILLEL As a supplement to on-campus programs, Hillel at VCU also sends students twice per year on a free trip to Israel with Taglit-Birthright: Israel Hillel for 10 days! Contact Orly Lewis at olewis@ weinsteinjcc.org 26 Yom Hashoah Event: Portrait of Wally This documentary traces the history of Egon Schiele’s iconic painting from Shiele’s gesture of affection toward his young lover, to the theft of the painting from Lea Bondi, a Jewish art dealer fleeing Vienna for her life, to the post-war confusion and subterfuge that evoke The Third Man, to the surprise resurfacing of “Wally” on loan to the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan in 1997.
