SUMMER CAMPS 11-14 Byte Camp: 2D Video Game Design Creative Young Minds Create your own wacky characters, cool game play and fun levels in your very own on-line game! Students will start the week making short animated films, and each day new programming skills will be taught to help them make the animations interactive. The final project is a video game built from scratch that will go on-line and is handed out on take-home USB sticks! Have a look at www.bytecamp.ca for hundreds of great games from previous years! Beginning with demonstration and instruction, then hands on making of projects with assistance. All materials and tools needed for the course are provided at no extra cost. Students will learn basic knife handling and safety, and how to sharpen a knife and keep it sharp. Over the 5 days students will make their own twig pen that really writes, a rubber band shooter, slip bark wooden whistles, a boomerang, a flying non-electric helicopter, hiking staff, and a space shuttle type airplane that really flies. Mad Science Camp Grades 3 - 6 A fun filled camp is waiting to capture your child’s imagination through amazing experiments and demonstrations covering all areas of science. Endless opportunities to discover the world around them with hands on activities in biology, chemistry, ecology and physics. Activities will include; rocket ship building, learning about buoyancy with a boat building competition, discovering the microscopic world around them, capturing, collecting and preserving insects, dissections, making giant bubbles, ice-cream, gak, elephant toothpaste and countless other chemistry experiments, with a few explosions along the way. All equipment is provided, all you need to bring is your running shoes, water bottle and sun protection, and most important your enthusiasm.
