Inclusion & Support Services The Weinstein JCC is an inclusive organization that welcomes people of all abilities and is committed to serving the unmet needs of individuals with developmental disabilities through social, educational and recreational opportunities. In addition to our inclusive preschool and after-school programs, there are wonderful friendship and enrichment programs for both children and adults with special needs throughout the year. Adult Circle of Friends An intimate, supportive group for adults with special needs Instructor: Melissa Bunce Ages: 22+ The Adult Circle of Friends is a social and recreational group for adults with special needs. The focus of this group is on learning new social skills and making lasting friendships. The group meets once a month to go on outings in the community. Activities in the past have included bowling, going to the movies, seeing a play, painting pottery, visiting local museums, and attending collegiate sporting events. This group is intimate and supportive by design. Participants need to be able to transition well into new settings and feel comfortable in public places. Session 1: December - February Session 2: March - May $75 per session JCC members $90 per session non-members. Diversity & Inclusion Festival Tuesday, February 11 - Thursday, February 13 Presented by Karen and Ken Olshansky The ReelAbilities Film Festival is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people of all abilities. The festival presents award- winning films, accompanied by discussions and other engaging programs, which bring together the community to explore, discuss and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience. Tickets: $12 general, $10 JCC members, $15 at door 5 Weinstein JCC | 2020 Winter - Spring Activity Guide IdentityRVA: Exploring Our Humanity February 6 – March 6 Sponsored by Hirschler The Identity RVA: Exploring Our Humanity exhibit consists of 22 individual portraits of diverse people in the Richmond community. While each individual person has a story to share of how they have been empowered by their differences, the photos capture the subject without stereotype or expectation. Opening Prorgam & Reception: February 12 at 7:00 pm Exhibit participants will share their inspiring stories of strength, courage and diversity in an opening night program that is free and open to the public Kesem Inclusive Theatre Project Performance Thursday, February 13 at 7:30pm Kesem (“Magic” in Hebrew) is exactly what occurs when actors, both with and without needs, go through this theatrical process together. A theatre education initiative for adults ages 18 and up, Kesem provides a comprehensive theatre education experience from process to performance. FREE and open to the public
