The Ackerman Family was one of the original families in Glen Ellyn and owned land in this area. The park now spans 65 acres and is home to Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center (opened in 2010) and serves as an athletic hub for the community. 1972 2019 In 1972, the Churchill Park property was purchased with matching funds from the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation.
