Earth Day Fair FREE! Sustainable Garden Tour & Native Plant Sale
Age: All
Enjoy live music and food, join an eco-info session, visit with “green”
organizations to learn about a variety of environmental initiatives. Stop and
shop with local sustainable vendors. Go on a guided walk, purchase a rain
barrel, let the kid’s wander through earthy activity stations, or rent a canoe
or kayak to paddle around Lake Ellyn. Presented by Glen Ellyn Park
District and SCARCE. (rf) Age: All
Visit gardens that showcase examples of green features, such as native
plants, compost bins, rain barrels and stormwater solutions, wildlife habitat,
and vegetable gardens. The tour will kick-off at Lake Ellyn Boathouse with
a brief presentation at 9am. Maps with addresses will be provided then and
you will have until 12pm to complete the self-guided tour. Native plants and
rain barrels will also be available for purchase that morning. Registration is
available through July 10, 12pm, at a discounted rate. A limited number of
“day-of” tickets will be available at the Boathouse. Presented by Glen Ellyn

Gardening for Pollinators Workshop NEW!
At College of DuPage

Do you want to help declining pollinators but are not sure where to start?
This workshop, sponsored in part by the Glen Ellyn Park District, aims to
inspire and inform homeowners. Learn about different pollinators such as
butterflies, moths, bees, and hummingbirds. Learn what food and structure
they need. Understand which types of plants are important and how your
landscape can be both attractive and provide habitat. See examples of
plants during an outdoor tour and learn where you can purchase them.
Listen to different presenters, enjoy a light meal, and receive a plant. (rf)

Family Night Hike FREE!

Normally our night hikes happen when the moon is nearly full, but we
wanted a darker sky this time. Enjoy a nocturnal stroll along the trails
to learn about animals of the night, let the crickets and grasshoppers
serenade you, and if the night is clear, we will look for stars and Saturn.
Free, but please register one member of your family. Min/Max: 4/10. (rf)
