TENNIS Tennis SUMMER TENNIS OPEN HOUSE FREE! At Glenbard West Tennis Courts Age: All. Learn how to become involved in the park district summer tennis program offered to people of all ages throughout the summer. Meet the Park District Tennis Professional, Mark Cunnington, who will be demonstrating the new racquets and giving a free clinic on developing your tennis skills. This event is free, but registration is required. (ke) DATE/TIME: Tuesday, June 2, 6pm-7:30pm HOW TO REGISTER: Sign up at gepark.org/register using code 116910 YOUTH TENNIS OVERVIEW & LEVELS Our Youth Tennis lessons and classes encourage young players to pick up the game of tennis and helps to develop their skills and love of the game! Lessons will focus on racquet skills, athletic development and an understanding of the game while having FUN! All ability levels are welcome, and staff will ensure your child is placed in the appropriate group based on their skills. (ke) Red Blast Ages: 4-6 Stroke development and tennis movement is taught in a fun, friendly environment. This class is recommended for players who have the skills introduced in the Red Launch and will be introduced to competition through a match play environment. Orange Launch Ages: 7-8 This class is for both the age-appropriate beginner and for players who have had multiple weeks of Red Blast instruction. Participants will develop tennis skills and proper technique. Movement is stressed to further develop coordination and balance. Game style teaching is used to build confidence and a love of the game. Green Launch Ages: 9-10 This class is for the age-appropriate beginner and players who have successfully passed the skills in the Orange Launch program. Stroke development, teamwork, and sportsmanship are taught in an entertaining format. Players advance through a set of skill progressions and challenges to build playing skills. Footwork is again stressed in a fun and friendly environment. MEET OUR TENNIS PRO TEAM 24 The tennis staff is very excited to be back for another summer. Director Mark Cunnington has put together another experienced team with many returning coaches. Mark is a USPTA certified tennis teaching professional. He is excited to develop any level of tennis player in a fun and friendly environment. The classes are fast paced and all about moving and hitting a ton of balls.
