Gators Mark Your Calendars! New Parent Orientation Date: Wednesday, May 16 Time: 6:30pm Held At: Spring Avenue Rec. Ctr. Practice Swim Meet Date: Sunday, June 10 Time: 7am Held At: Sunset Pool SWIM TEAM ABOUT THE TEAM Age: 7-18 The Gators Swim Team is made up of boys and girls 7-18 years of age who practice outdoors at Sunset pool and compete in the West Suburban Swim Conference throughout the summer. Participants practice daily and learn the techniques and discipline of competitive swimming while learning the value of sportsmanship and team spirit. Returning Gators will have priority regis- tration; however no spots are guaranteed. The Gators compete at both “A” (more competitive) and “B” (less experienced) meets. Parents are required to work two home and away meets and swimmers can attend five meets throughout the summer, two of them must be away meets. Meet signup will take place during the first week of the program. A Parent Manual, which further details the program, will be available after May 1 at the Main Street and Spring Avenue Recreation Centers and online at www.gegators.com. Swim Team is not a lesson program. Participants 7 and 8 years old must be able to comfortably swim one pool length of freestyle and one pool length of backstroke. Participants over 9 years old must be able to swim two lengths of the pool freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers are ex- pected to attend practices on a daily basis.
