Nature Outings Help Plant Trees on Grandparent’s Day

Explore nature in the fall. Each class will feature a different topic
supported by stories, crafts and an easy exploratory hike. Join us for
one or all of the sessions. Min/Max: 5/10. (rf) Age: All
Join us to plant small oak trees in the woods of Ackerman Park. Bring
the grandkids out for a “do-good” activity. No grandkids, no problem!
Please bring a shovel and work gloves and meet near the trailhead
into the woods along the park entrance road. Oaks are a keystone
species and their numbers continue to decrease in our region. Help us
increase the diversity in this natural area. No registration required. (rf)

The world beneath our feet is a hidden, magical place filled with entire
ecosystems. Did you know that mushrooms form important partners
with tree and plant roots? Or that crayfish can be found far from water,
living in burrows in the soil? Want more dirt? Seventy percent of native
bees nest underground. Some slugs eat worms and simple ant hills are
often an intricate system of specific chambers and rooms. Join us for a
soil sleuthing adventure. Min/Max: 5/12. (rf) Age: All
Join us for a sunset hike to search for hidden ghosts throughout
Churchill Park. Successfully find all the ghosts and answer a few nature
trivia questions - win a fun Halloween surprise! Please park at Churchill
school and meet at the picnic tables near the school’s gymnasium.
Bring a flashlight! This is a non-scary event. Fee is per child. Adult
