Youth Fencing Lessons
Co-Ed Field Hockey
Practices at Ackerman SFC, Games at GBW Memorial Field Held at Main Street Recreation Center Grade: 1-8
Field hockey is the hottest new sport! We focus on building individual
and team field hockey skills. Instruction and practice drills emphasize
stick handling, ball control, positioning, offensive and defensive tactics,
rules, and conditioning. The clinics are run by extremely qualified field
hockey coaches with international, national, and local playing/coaching
experience. Beginners are welcome at all age groups. (ch) Age: 8 & Up
Learn the beginning skills and techniques of this unique sport without
fighting. Fencing combines coordination of relaxed and fast moves,
and critical thinking between attack and defensive strategies. Advanced
classes are available after completing a minimum of one beginning
class (speak w/instructor). Equipment is provided. Min/Max: 5/10. (ch)

EQUIPMENT: All participants are required to purchase a reversible
jersey ($20 one time only) for game play. Each player is required to
bring and wear their own shin guards and mouth guard. Loaner sticks
are available, but purchase of field hockey stick is recommended.
Please ask your instructor for tips on purchasing a stick before you

HORSEMANSHIP
Horsemanship Course
Held at Dunham Woods Farm - 9N755 Nesler Road, Elgin
Age: 9-17
You’ll learn all about the proper ways to groom, tack and handle
horses. In the saddle you will learn the basics of riding at the “walk and
trot”. First day of class is orientation and groundwork. Riders should
wear jeans or Jodhpur pants and hard-soled riding or hiking boots
with a small, low heel. Bring an approved riding helmet or bicycle
helmet. Lessons will be held in our indoor arena during inclement
weather. Make-up class held at the end of the 6 weeks. Instructor:
