Activity Guide Autumn 2019 | Page 2

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE The Autumn Activity Guide is here, and with that another exciting ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dave Harris, (630) 942-7255 EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT Kimberly Dikker, (630) 942-7256 SUPERINTENDENT OF FINANCE & PERSONNEL Nick Cinquegrani, (630) 942-7257 SUPERINTENDENT OF RECREATION Kathleen Esposito, (630) 942-7261 PARKS PROJECT MANAGER Nathan Troia, (630) 942-7265 season in Glen Ellyn! We are fortunate to have so many beautiful trees changing colors, most notably the very rare and endangered oak savannas that adorn Lake Ellyn and Maryknoll Parks. Get out and see them while enjoying all our parks have to offer. It’s also time for new beginnings and continuing traditions. For many families, the Glen Ellyn Park District’s preschool program is their first step into our amazing community. Many may be starting a new sport, dance, or a music program. Many of our community members look forward to fall outings, service projects, and community get-togethers. We are proud to offer such an abundance of opportunities for everyone, regardless of age or ability. As we conclude Glen Ellyn Park District’s 100th anniversary, I’m excited about all the efforts the Park District has accomplished. With an emphasis on being stewards of the environment, we have planted over 100 trees around the District. We have installed walking paths, planted gardens, restored native plants, and begun improvements at Ackerman Park. We also have fond memories of trips to Sunset Pool, the Cardboard Regatta, Goat Yoga (hopefully your efforts to get a goat to stand on you succeeded), and another fun-filled 4th of July. Looking ahead, we continue with traditions such as Pumpkin Flotilla Fest and the Turkey Trot. We also look forward to new traditions including the Fall Fête, Bloody Marys on the Green, and some exciting new class offerings. All these activities can be found in this Guide, and I hope to see you out there enjoying our variety of offerings! MARKETING SUPERVISOR Courtney O’Kray, (630) 942-7260 Personally, it has been a privilege to be a member of this community for the past 10 years, and an honor to serve on the Board of Commissioners. I have enjoyed seeing our park district grow and evolve, and I look forward to what the future holds. To that end, I want to thank all the hardworking staff of the Glen Ellyn Park District, past and present Commissioners and you, the members of our community for your continued support.
