Shaun Livingston

It's known worldwide that basketball is hard on the legs. It's even more well known that basketball injuries can end your career. Knee and shin injuries are the most common, followed by ankle and foot injuries. Shaun Livingston, who played for many teams, almost ended his career in a game in 2007.

February 26, 2007, Shaun Livingston-then a part of the Los Angeles Clippers-was playing against the Charlotte Bobcats. Suddenly, his career came to a screeching halt, like a train on its tracks. Upon missing a layup, Livingston landed very awkwardly on his foot, snapping his left leg-laterally. His knee exploded like a cannonball, tearing his anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, his meniscus, and badly spraining his medial cruciate ligament, while also dislocating his patella and his tibio-fibular joint. Livingston was devastated-and in pain. ESPNEWS actually had to warm viewers of the graphic content before showing footage of Livingston. Out of 246 regular season games, Livingston missed 101 of them due to multiple injuries.

About a year later, Livingston was finally able to return to basketball. Livingston finally signed a contract with the Miami Heat after being an unrestricted free agent following the expiration of his contract with the Clippers.
