Resolution to rescind the inclusion of certain teachers ’ names in resolution terminating probationary teachers . The School Board reviewed terms and conditions of the resolution and approved the resolution on a unanimous vote .
ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
2022-23 district calendar modification , freshman transition day Dr . Josh Delich , associate superintendent for high schools , provided a status report on an update to the 2022-23 school year calendar to accommodate a freshman transition day , where only ninth grade students and new students would attend high school on Tuesday , September 6 ; students in grades 10-12 would participate in asynchronous first day of school activities from home . This matter will come back in front of the board for an official first read on June 27 with additional information .
K-8 Virtual enrollment update Dr . Mary Wolverton , associate superintendent for elementary schools , and Dr . Josh Delich , associate superintendent for high schools , provided an update to the School Board on K-8 enrollment in Anoka-Hennepin Virtual Academy . Due to declining enrollment , a recommendation for discontinuing the Virtual Academy for grades K-8 beginning in fall 2022 was presented for consideration . Superintendent David Law said the low numbers would compromise the quality of K-8 instruction and elective diversity at the middle level . This change does not impact virtual instruction at the high school level , where enrollment numbers have not seen a large decrease .
MN State High School League ( MSHSL ) resolution for membership Superintendent David Law requested the School Board ’ s action to approve membership to the Minnesota State High School League for the 2022-23 school year . The board approved the resolution for membership unanimously .
FINANCE
FY23 proposed budget - all funds Michelle Vargas , chief financial officer , presented the proposed fiscal year 2023 budget for the Anoka-Hennepin School District . The district is projecting a revenue increase of $ 7.3 million , or 1.3 percent , for the next fiscal year and an additional 283 students . Expenditures are increasing by $ 19.5 million , or 5 percent , some of which comes from one-time federal COVID-19 relief funds . Transportation expenses , utilities and liability and property insurance rates are all on the rise , and strategic investments will be made using one-time federal funding in areas such as math and literacy coaches at the secondary level , textbook adoptions for science and English / language arts , synthetic turf practice fields at the five traditional high schools , long-term facilities maintenance , and the purchase / remodel of an early learning
school facility in Blaine . The fiscal year 2023 budget will be approved in June .
