Champlin Park High School Ashley Brown, International Baccelaurate program coordinator, introduced graduated students who earned the rigorous IB full diploma award. CPHS honorees are Joseph Cesare, Sonia Chavez-Meza, Shannon Delahanty, Alyssa Nhacly-Freeman, Jonathon Henningson, Walid Khori, Kathryn Lemon, Annee Lorentzen, Ian Marigi, Deborah Nyakaru, Austin James Schleusner, Eli Walbolt and Jonas Zaabriskie. MSBA certificate of commendation Superintendent David Law presented Board Chair Tom Heideman with a certificate of commendation from the Minnesota School Boards Association. Heideman completed a multi-phased leadership training program for School Board leaders in Minnesota. Communications, delegations and petitions <> addressed the School Board regarding athletics programs in the district. Labor relations and benefits Health reimbursement arrangement plan for retirees Jim Gilligan, director of labor relations and benefits, presented a revised Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) plan to shift accumulated value for active employees with retirement only accounts in alignment with IRS rulings. The decision has no net budget impact on district programs or employee benefits. The board passed a resolution of approval on a unanimous vote. Elementary and secondary education Fit for the Future Task Force update Chuck Holden, chief operations officer, introduced Tibli Dixon and Kate Thunstrom, co-chairs of the Fit for the Future Task Force, a group of 34 community members who have been studying facility needs in response to a School Board directive to provide options for consideration over the next 10 to 15 years. The board heard a status update that included news that the group has received reports on elementary, middle and high school space needs, community education space needs, financial implications, special education options, enrollment projections, along with tours of all five district comprehensive high schools. The task force is moving forward to finalize options for consideration in preparation for a January 2017 presentation and decision by the School Board on how to proceed. Oct. 1 enrollment report Enrollment in Anoka-Hennepin Schools exceeds projections by 479 students as determined in the annual Oct. 1 enrollment report. Dr. Joel VerDuin, chief information officer, Michelle VanDenTop, director of information services, and Nick Herman, student information specialist, provided numbers and analysis on enrollment for the current school year. Overall growth in student populations for the year is 1.8 percent with growth experienced at all levels. Mental health annual report Cory McIntyre, executive director of student services, and Dr. Nita Kumar, mental health consultant, presented the annual report on mental health services provided by the district. Dr. Kumar provided an update on nine action areas in the district mental health management plan. Annual public data review Dr. Johnna Rohmer-Hurt, director of research, evaluation and testing, presented a detailed report on student achievement and other performance measurements for the 2015-16 school year. General counsel Master agreement for education office professionals Paul Cady, general counsel, presented an agreement regarding terms and conditions of employment for education office professionals from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2018.
