Alternative facilities 10-year plan
Steve Anderson, Buildings and Grounds director, provided an overview of a 10-year plan for facility maintenance, a requirement that qualifies Anoka-Hennepin to fund projects using the long-term facilities maintenance revenue provision in state law. Projects that qualify for replacement in this program include flooring, roofs, windows, heating and air conditioning, and others. Anderson highlighted replacement of parking areas at Anoka High School and Blaine High School as more visible projects that will be coordinated the summer of 2016. Anderson explained that the district has a 46-day window to coordinate summer maintenance projects and that further analysis in needed to determine if additional projects should be included in future planning. The School Board approved the plan on a unanimous vote.

FY17 Budget approval request
Michelle Vargas, chief financial officer, provided a comprehensive overview in advance of recommending approval for the 2016-17 budget. The final document incorporates significant planning work and direction by the School Board over the course of the past school year. Vargas provided analysis of revenues and expenditures of the general fund, food service fund, community service fund, capital projects fund, debt service fund, and trust fund accounts for the coming year. The approved $ 524 million budget represents a. 2 percent increase and includes a projected fund balance of 10.2 percent, an indicator of strong financial management. Vargas commented on Anoka-Hennepin’ s status as having the lowest per capita debt of the 48 metro-area school districts.
