Lynn Montgomery, district DI coordi- nator, introduced team members and advisors. Schools that advanced teams include Andover High School, Blaine High School, Jackson Middle School, Roosevelt Middle School, Anoka Middle School for the Arts, Cham- plin-Brooklyn Park Academy, Johnsville Elementary, Madison Elementary, Monroe Elementary, and Rum River Elementary. Communications, delegations and petitions Michelle Weitzel and Rick Heller provided communication items for board consideration. Employee services Resolution relating to the termination and non-renewal of teaching contracts of probationary teachers Sarah Kriewall, director of employee services, introduced the resolution, considered a routine matter for the district. The resolution was approved on a 6-0 vote. Resolution to rescind the inclusion of certain teachers’ names in resolution terminating proba- tionary teachers Sarah Kriewall, director of employee services, introduced a resolution rescinding names of probationary teach- ers who had earlier been terminated or non-renewed for the 2017-18 school year. The resolution was approved on a 6-0 vote. Community education and governmental relations Legislative recap Steve Kerr, executive director of community and government relations, and Lori Grivna, director of public affairs and government relations for Amundson Strategies, presented results from the 2017 state legislature and the impact on Anoka-Hennepin schools. Grivna explained the process to build support to enact new legislation that provides permanent support for comprehensive pilot program funding. This provision allows district schools to plan and measure the impact of reading and math programs on students, and removing the uncertainty that comes with a pilot that needed to be approved every two years. Grivna also referenced an increase in the basic funding formula and various other items of interest as a result of the session.
