6. Amplify counseling conducted at EL intake.
This coming year, collaborative instructional model pilot programs will be launched at
Anoka and Champlin Park High Schools. At Anoka, teachers will cluster in science only,
but also dedicate a counselor for all EL students. And at Champlin Park, clusters will focus
in science and English language arts.
“What we should see is an uptick in proficiency,” Superintendent David Law said. “The
short term change for next year… the model for instruction will look different where an
(EL) teacher will spend more time partnering with classroom teachers in science and language arts, and hopefully we’ll be able to measure how well those students are doing.”
Hays said she’ll come back to the Board at a later time with a more comprehensive plan
once the budget is settled and the pilots are underway.
