Andover High School art students place high at the Minnesota State Fair and Silver Key Scholastic Art Competition
Mike Hecker, industrial technology teacher at AndHS, presented 10 students being recognized for their placement at the
Minnesota State Fair (MN State Fair) in various areas, such as photography, graphic design, dyesublimination; and in jewelry
and ceramics at the Silver Key Scholastic Art Competition. Sophomore Katelyn Rono won first place in graphic design at
the MN State Fair; seniors Brooke Beberg, Hayley Walsh and Anna Erickson won first place in digital photography at the
MN State Fair; junior Alison Meeyer and senior Alixandra Collum won second place in digital photography at the MN State
Fair; junior Alaina Aarness won third place in digital photography at the MN State Fair; senior Sam Kibiger won first place
dyseublimination at the MN State Fair; and junior Max Brurud won the jewelry section and senior Kathy Nuguyen won the
ceramics section at the Silver Key Scholastic Art Competition.
Andover High School announces student AP Scholars
Becky Brodeur, principal of AndHS, presented 45 juniors and seniors that achieved AP Scholar status, with nine of those
students achieving honors placement, and 10 achieving with distinction. Juniors Alexander Douglas, Alison Meyer, Ethan

Andover High School announces student AP Scholars

held March 28-30 in St. Cloud. Freshman Dillon Buchanan and Sierra Rankert; sophomores Dawson Clifton and Claire
Beckman; juniors Lily Eklund, Ava Mares, Matt Janis, Andy Rowland and Reid Steinhagen; and senior Jillian Determan.
Anoka-Hennepin School Board Volunteer Appreciation Week 2019
Anoka-Hennepin School Board Chair Tom Heidemann presented a resolution of appreciation for the volunteers who
contribute to the success of student outcomes.
Communications, delegations and petitions
Jennifer Chicos and Jen O’Connor provided testimony for School Board consideration.
Employee services
The School Board took actions regarding employees and positions in the district in relation to a reporting timeline needed to
comply with contracts and state requirements. Sarah Kriewall, director of employee services, presented items for approval
and one item for information only. Resolutions were approved with a unanimous vote.
Resolution relating to the termination and non-renewal of teaching contracts of probationary teachers
The School Board approved the resolution in compliance with Minnesota Statute 122A.40, sub. 5. The action is considered a
routine matter conducted annually.
For information only: long-term substitute teachers, intern teachers, re-employed retired teachers.
The board reviewed a listing of employees whose contracts with the district are due to expire at the end of the school year.
Resolution to rescind the inclusion of certain teachers’ names in resolution terminating probationary teachers.
The School Board reviewed terms and conditions of the resolution and approved the resolution on a unanimous vote.

2019 Community Survey
The Anoka-Hennepin School Board authorizes an annual survey of community members to measure satisfaction with
services provided and identify issues and trends that require consideration for board action. The School Board reviewed and
provided feedback into a draft survey document that will be used to collected data this spring.
