A focus on addressing identified gaps in student achievement, graduation rates and disruptive student behaviors has been established as a strategic priority by the School Board. Middle school reading strategies adoption Kim Pavlovich, director of secondary curriculum, and Julie Scullen, reading teaching and learning specialist, pre- sented the results of an comprehensive 41 step materials adoption process and a recommendation to purchase Reading Plus curriculum materials at a cost of $96,000. The adoption process included input from all stake- holders, including middle school reading teachers and building administrators, along with an extensive in school pilot program. The recommendation was approved by the School Board unanimously and will be available for students starting with the 2018-19 school year.
