Communications, delegations and petitions The School Board did not receive any communications, delegations or petitions. Finance Annual audit report Aaron Nielsen, a certified public accountant with the accounting firm Malloy, Montague, Karnowski, Radosevich and Company (MMKR), reviewed the annual audit his firm conducted of the district’s financial statements for the fiscal year 2018. The auditor gave the district an unmodified opinion on its basic financial statements, and said the district is in a strong financial position with an adequate fund balance and provided trend data along with current financial measures to provide context. No findings, material weaknesses or instances of noncompliance were reported. The analysis and report of district funds by an independent firm provides information for School Board consideration in financial planning and management of business affairs and compliance with legal requirements and mandates. Elementary and secondary education School bell times 2019-20 Enrollment changes between schools and new schools at the elementary level prompted a review and recommendation of school start and end times to maximize safe travel and economic efficiency of the system. Chuck Holden, chief operations officer, and Keith Paulson, director of transportation, provided an overview of proposals that would go into effect for the fall of 2019. No changes to middle school or high schools are recommended. The recommendations, which impact 11 of 26 school sites, would be shared with parents, guardians and staff following approval of the School Board, which is anticipated at a future meeting. The changes are under consideration now to allow maximum time for families to make any adjustments necessary in advance of the September 2019 start date. 1
