The School Board unanimously elected Tom Heidemann to serve as chair , Marci Anderson as vice chair , Jeff Simon as clerk and Bill Harvey as treasurer .
The School Board also set the group ’ s meeting dates from January 2017 through July of 2018 , including regular meetings and work sessions . Specific dates can be found in appendix B of the School Board packet .
The board then designated the district ’ s official depositories and official investment financial institutions and assigned the district ’ s legal newspapers . The board also delegated various staff with authority for electronic fund transfers , and gave Superintendent David Law and Chief Financial Officer Michelle Vargas authorization to sign contracts .
They also set board members ’ compensation at $ 1,300 per month for the chair , and $ 1,200 a month for other members , which is unchanged from last year .
School Board Chair Tom Heidemann made a number of committee appointments , which can be seen in appendix J of the School Board packet .
Communications , delegations and petitions
Michelle Weitzel addressed the School Board regarding the district ’ s biomedical partnerships .
Amy and Adam Rozumalski , and Rebecca Mayfield addressed the School Board regarding open enrollment at Jackson Middle School .
Jim Moe addressed the School Board regarding the hockey team at Andover High School .
Finance
Audit report for fiscal year 2014
Aaron Nielsen , a certified public accountant with the accounting firm Malloy , Montague , Karnowski , Radosevich and Company ( MMKR ), reviewed the annual audit his firm conducted of the district ’ s financial statements for the 2016 fiscal year . The auditor gave the district an unmodified opinion on its basic financial statements , and said the district is in a strong financial position with an adequate fund balance and provided trend data along with current financial measures to provide context .
The analysis and report of district funds by an independent firm provides information for School Board consideration in financial planning and management of business affairs and compliance with legal requirements and mandates .
