The School Board received testimony from Carol Fehrman , Laurie Thompson , Matt Audette , Andrea Whitcomb and Paul Weller .
Recognitions
Chris Forrest receives MESPA North Suburban Divisional Leadership Award
Dr . Anissa Cravens , principal at Brookside Elementary School , presented Chris Forrest , principal at Wilson Elementary with the Minnesota Elementary School Principal ’ s Association North Suburban Divisional Leadership Award . Forrest is one of 12 principals from throughout Minnesota to receive the distinction . The award recognizes educational leaders who contribute to improving education in the schools , the communities they serve , and others in the profession .
Employee services
The School Board took actions regarding employees and positions in the district in relation to a reporting timeline needed to comply with contracts and state requirements . Sarah Kriewall , director of employee services , presented items for approval and one item for information only . Resolutions were approved with a unanimous vote .
Resolution relating to the termination and non-renewal of teaching contracts of probationary teachers
The School Board approved the resolution in compliance with Minnesota Statute 122A . 40 , sub . 5 . The action is considered a routine matter conducted annually by the board .
For information only : long term substitute teachers , intern teachers , re-employed retired teachers
The board reviewed a listing of employees whose contracts with the district are due to expire at the end of the school year .
Resolution to rescind the inclusion of certain teachers ’ names in resolution terminating probationary teachers
The School Board reviewed terms and conditions of the resolution and approved the resolution on a unanimous vote .
Elementary and secondary education
Portrait of a Graduate
Dr . Joel VerDuin , chief technology and information officer , and Katie Bussey , instructional technology facilitator , presented an update on the process to develop a “ Portrait of a Graduate ”. This process intends to identify and take action on key traits and attributes to prioritize within the school system . This was an information presentation with additional review and comment from the School Board expected in October 2021 prior to next steps implementation .
