Award ceremony In Braila
A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE - THE GALA OF THE FILM FESTIVAL
"Nicolae Iorga" Highschool from Braila, Romania, had the privilege of hosting the last mobility of the Erasmus + Project "Action!", which brought together students and teachers from France, Turkey, Spain, Poland and Romania. The project aimed to develop pupils' interest and passion for the short film, each school year having a topic for films: Europe through the eyes of children - for the first year of the project and the problems of the 21st century - for the second year of the project.
The most awaited moment was represented by the Film Festival Gala that took place in the magnificent hall of the "Maria Filotti" Theater. Students, teachers, parents watched with excitement and interest the short films made this year. The students established the hierarchy, so the awards were: "THE WRITER" - FRANCE, GRANAT award; "IN THE DARKNESS" - POLAND, SAFIR award; "NO (REAL)" - SPAIN, SMARALD award; "THE HOOLIGANS" - TURKEY, RUBIN award; "RAMONA" - ROMANIA, DIAMANT award, a distinction that praised the work of a passionate and enthusiastic team.
All the films illustrate the problems of the youths in the 21st Century, sometimes solved violently, relevant to what is happening today at a global level. The teenagers from the five countries portray emotions and sufferings in their films that adults, parents and teachers alike do not notice or, if they do, do not have the right solutions. The teachers involved in the project voted their favorite film, the winning one being LIPSOPATH, made by France, a powerful film about fear and the force to overcome it. The students and teachers of the "Nicolae Iorga" Highschool organized an artistic program with music, classical and modern dance.
The event would not have the same success without the support of the cultural institutions from Braila: the Carol I Museum, the ”Maria Filotti” Theater,The County School Inspectorate, the Mayor hall. The short film gala has proved to be an experience that has truly enriched the young people from the five countries who had the opportunity to practice their creativity, tolerance, struggle with ethnic prejudices and stereotypes, in a Europe that is constantly redefining its coordinates.
