Action Figure Resource Magazine April 2016 | Page 2

Hi, Welcome to another issue of the AFR Magazine, I hope you’ve had as enjoyable a month as I’ve had. Probably one of the highlights of the month for me was finally sat down to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens this week after putting it off for the last few months because I was afraid of being disappointed. ACTION FIGURE RESOURCE MAGAZINE TODAY’S TOYS, TOMORROW’S TREASURES I’m glad to report however that I wasn’t, although I do have some issues with it and thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m eagerly awaiting the sequels. My main issues are that they relied too much on the “old cast” rather than fully introducing the new characters, especially Kylo Ren and Rey, also they could have developed the Han and Kylo Ren relationship a bit more ad lastly it felt to much like the whole Death Star thing, again! In other news Twentieth Century FOX Consumer Products announced Alien Day, which looks and sounds like it’s going to be awesome, see below for more details. ACTION FIGURE RESOURCE MAGAZINE This month we continue our look at Mego with their Happy Days figures. Even in the UK this sitcom had a profound effect and especially the Fonze who many a teenage boy tried to model themselves after, so ths article brought back some found memories. However, these figures were never produced or released in the UK…as far as I’m aware. Also with the upcoming reboot of The Ghostbusters we take a look at the original Kenner release of the Real Ghostbusters back in the eighties. This month’s Top Ten takes a look at Spiderman, what do you think of our selection? Send us your Top Ten Spiderman action figures. Star Wars auctions continue to hit an all-time high and with Rogue One being released in December and other Stars Wars Universe films due this looks unlikely to change over the coming years. As far as Non Star Wars items go there’s quite a nice selection in the Top Ten but it seems that after Star Wars, The Transformers continues to be the most popular line of figures, or at least as far as top ten auction listings go. It often seems that when people talk about the vintage Star Wars figures they are generally referring to ONLY the figures however there were some excellent, and highly collectible, ships and vehicles released so this month we take an in-depth look at what was released and is the most collectible. Then, of course, we have the review section to help you make that all important decision on what to spend your hard earnt cash on this month! As always, have a great month.
