It promotes flexibility, relaxation and a connection between you and your horse so you can begin your ride in a calm and focused manner.

It is simple. And, personally, I believe there is always incredible wisdom in simplicity.

After you mount your horse do not walk forward. Remain standing still.

Flex your horse gently to the left so that the knob of his chin touches the point of his left shoulder. Release. Now breathe, and relax. Remain standing.

When you use the target of the knob of his chin to the point of the shoulder, you will be consistent in what you are doing every time.

Now, flex your horse gently to the right so that his chin touches the point of his right shoulder. Release. Now breathe, and relax. Remain standing.

Repeat again on both sides. If you and your horse feel calm and focused, walk on. If not, continue until you do so.

When you do this simple exercise each time your begin your ride, you will develop a ritual of ease and communication for both of you.
