Following breakfast on Sunday, Rita Kay and Andy start the day off with a spirit-raising gospel service that really lets you appreciate how and why we are all here.  A sign in their home reads: “Mr. Andy is blessed with Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding”.  Meant to be ironic, that sign made me laugh when I first met Andy, but after experiencing one of his Sunday morning sermons, I truly believe that he is ALL THAT!

Yes, something magical happens at Morning Star Ranch! Longtime ACTHA member, Nickie Johnson, said it perfectly:  “Every time we pull in to Morning Star Ranch, we feel loved, surrounded by friends, at peace, and in the presence of the Lord”.

I believe that peaceful experience wouldn’t be the same without Rita Kay and Andy.  We are blessed to have them share their ranch as ACTHA Ride Hosts.  We are beyond blessed that they open their home and their hearts to each and every soul they meet.

RIDE HOST

They invite you to dine inside the Dining Hall and serve up some of the best homemade food you will ever eat!  When you hear the clanging of the triangle - run, don’t’ walk to the Dining Hall.  Rita Kay will be serving mouthwatering desserts to each of us at our table as Andy is telling a whale of a story! Then everyone gathers for the Rider Briefing where Andy shines as he explains his home-grown obstacles and leads us in prayer before the ride.  With humor and happiness he adds a feeling of excitement to his events.

Upon completion of the trail ride, riders anxiously await the clanging of the triangle announcing that lunch is ready.  Once again everyone is treated to a homemade feast that is second to none!

We all gather to the awards area where there are picnic tables and benches for everyone under the canopy of trees.  The folding tables are overflowing with prizes and ribbons.  Rita Kay shares a story or two and the banter between her and Andy is hilarious.  Rita Kay’s gentle, calming spirit is complimented by Andy’s fun-loving, boisterous nature. With only a few hours until dinner, we are treated to a clinic followed by free time to enjoy our friends, our horses and the beautiful countryside.
