well until we were walking through the “car wash” with all those pool noodles dangling down. That was it. Enough. He went charging out dragging me with him until I had to let go.
I walked him back to the evil monster that could have eaten us both! But this time, even though he was scared, he stood quietly next to me. Success! I was hooked! I've come to learn since I do all my own training, “Success comes in All Sizes”.
At this point our Reindeer Games kicked into full gear. That October there was going to be a Halloween Horse Show with a Costume
Being
Navarre
Class, so I turned Navarre into a Pirate Ship. I learned that he really thinks it's funny to scare other horses. When we walked into that arena wearing our “ship” with me swinging my sword (complete with sword clanging sounds) some of the other horses contemplated exiting as he tried to walk towards them. Such a brat.
Since the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Mounted Unit Obstacle Challenge was only a yearly event, our training took other paths. I taught him pull a carriage which he loves to do. First, we stayed home, then graduated to driving around our neighborhood. He would
help me drag my arena using my Pioneer
Forecart (like the Amish use). I'd hook my
arena drag behind the cart so I worked
my horse & got the arena looking all
pretty too.
