AQHA Gelding

When people ask me how long I have been riding, I just laugh and say, “Since I was thought of.” My mom was still riding horses until she was 8 months pregnant and as soon as I was old enough to sit with her in a saddle or in a “snuggy,” I was on the back of a horse. I am told I started riding by myself at 3 years old. I was fearless on a horse until I was 5 years old and fell off my mom’s Thoroughbred and broke my arm. I still wanted to ride but was afraid. I started going to Horse Summer Camp at Trackrock Stables in Blairsville, GA where I learned to overcome my fear and became a confident rider. I was a camp kid at Trackrock for 7 years and now I am 15 years old and a junior counselor helping other children learn how to ride.

TOP TEN

Cookie is an 8 year old AQHA gelding registered as GL Boons Two ID Red. When I met him as a 5 year old in November of 2013, I just knew he was the perfect horse for me. We fell in love and bonded instantly. I renamed him Cookie Monster because he was always hunting for the cookies I had in my pockets the day we met. He was originally trained to work cows. My mom and her friend wanted to start doing more riding and we discovered ACTHA in February of 2014 and went to our first competition. We had so much fun riding and competing together. I trained and worked with Cookie myself with the help of many good people. I could not have had a successful year without the help from a lot of people (my mom for taking me to shows, my dad for making it possible, Anna Gay for letting me tag along and teaching me new things, and ACTHA hosts for putting on fun shows). I can’t wait to start showing in the Pleasure Division this season.
