Stable Flies

Stable flies are common around confined animal rearing facilities, but can also be pests in open pastures. Both sexes feed on the blood of livestock and man, and inflict painful bites. Adults actively feed during sunny days and generally feed on the lower parts of animals.

Horn Flies

Horn fly adults typically occur on cattle, but may infest other livestock such as horses. Adults spend most of their life on the host animal, congregating on the back and shoulders [fig.] or on the underparts during hot days.
