Acqua di Sardegna’s story begins with a seafaring man. His name is Mauro Aprea.
Mauro discovered Sardinia little by little, a pearl in the heart of the Mediterranean.
A land where the wind seems to breathe life into the rocks and people choose their words carefully.
The ancient stone towers and small bronze statues define its history. Together with
the traditions, the colours, the festas, the fairy tales and the music, guardedly handed down.
One day, as he watched from a promontory resembling a sleeping giant, Mauro realised that he had
fallen in love with this land. He decided to change everything and come to live here, in Alghero, a small
town made of limestone and coral, resting on the sea front. People in love at times need to communicate
what they are feeling. Some use words, some use music or pictures. Mauro decided to say it with perfumes.
Sardinia talks by way of its perfumes. She beckons to us via a fragrance of waves, of sun-drenched rock,
of aromatic herbs, juniper, small wild flowers. Then, having driven us to explore her, she offers us
her tales via the aromas of the leaves on the paths, the shadowy narrow and cool walkways, the dry yellow
fields that quiver in the burning heat and the fresh air, after the first September rain. To describe all this,
Mauro began with one perfume: Acqua di Sardegna. He wanted it to be a gift, a memory to be preserved.
Since then each time, after the creation of a new fragrance destined to encompass one of the island’s
secrets, there is always another story waiting to be told. New fragrances will constantly be created, all
different but joined together by an imperceptible thread. They will cause the island to become one with
the wearer and will instantly conjure up a beach, a shimmer over the water or a breezy sun-soaked jetty.
