The Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
offers tremendous support to the Community
Office. The CAC is an elected group of local
West Philadelphia community residents
who volunteer their time to help provide
leadership and
direction for the
ACHIEVEability
Community
Office. These
advisors are
our “eyes and
ears” in the
local community. They bring concerns to
the table that we, as a non-profit embedded
in their community, could help address.
You will find our Advisors at community
meetings collecting information, building
partnerships to enhance our programs, and
sharing our resources. They also spearhead
our quarterly Town Hall meetings and many
other activities. Congratulations to the newly
elected Community Advisory Committee.
The elected advisors are: Angela Allen, Ruth
Bazemore, Geraldine Brown, Kelita Buchanan,
Bishop Christine Coleman-Crosby, Brenda
Clark, Michella Crosby, Janice Duglas, Robert
Ellis, Denise Green, Denise Johnson-Quick,
Wanda Logan, Qiana Walker, Linda Watson,
and James Wright. The elected advisors help
to support the quarterly Town Hall Meetings
while serving on various subcommittees. For
more information about the CAC or to get
involved on one of the subcommittees, please
contact the ACHIEVEability Community Office
at 215-748-8838 or community.community@

During the past fiscal year (July 1, 2012 June 30, 2013), close to 500 individuals provided 6,258 hours of service
to ACHIEVEability and we are looking to grow our
volunteer engagement even more next year. Using

at the annual Volunteer Recognition Reception in
May. The event was held at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle
Steakhouse in Center City Philadelphia. In addition to honoring the
service of all of our volunteers, ACHIEVEability recognized Morgan Lewis &
Bockius as the Volunteer Group of the Year and
Evon Burton as the Individual Volunteer of
the Year.
The Volunteer Group of the Year, Morgan
Lewis, has supported ACHIEVEability on
Morgan Lewis Impact Day for the past three
years by painting and cleaning homes for
new families (2013 event pictured at left).
In addition, they have also provided pro bono
services for ACHIEVEability participants and
professional development training for our
staff. The Individual Volunteer of the Year, Evon
Burton, has been providing his expertise in
public relations and social media since 2011.
With his support, ACHIEVEability has made
Morgan Lewis employees during 2013 Morgan Lewis Impact Day.
