Its objective is on par with the Department’s vision which is “To be a competitive entity in teaching and research in Computer Engineering in the country and the region and to produce graduates with international recognition for their knowledge and skills, capable of taking leadership positions in the science and technology of design, construction, implementation, and maintenance of software and hardware components of modern computing systems and computer- controlled equipment that constitute the discipline of Computer Engineering”. The Association of Computer Engineering Students (ACES) was formed in August, 2001 as the students’ body of computer engineering undergraduates of the Faculty of Engineering with the aim of maximising students’ potential by organizing different activities and events that would bring out the best within themselves and make them prepared for the next technological revolution. With time, ACES has become one of the most active student bodies in the Univer- sity. ACES has organized many events an- nually, with the perpetual support and encouragement of the highly qualified ac- ademic staff members of the department. ACES hackathon, ACES Coders, ACES Ca- reer Fair, and the Project Symposium are a few major events among the many activities organized by the Association of Comput- er Engineering Students. All these events have been successfully carried out with the intention of enhancing the knowledge and the quality of the undergraduates. Through- out the years, ACES has actively contribut- ed to building a platform to improve the skills of the computer engineering students with the collaboration of the industry and the department’s proud alumni. The suc- cessful results of the past years’ efforts of ACES are brought out clearly through the excellent performance of the students who have exhibited outstanding talents in mul- tiple disciplines related to the computer engineering domain both on national and international levels. ACES, which has come a long way since its humble beginnings will continue to strive for success with the collective effort of the students, academic staff, alumni and the industry with the in- tention of unveiling the best version of the department and its students. ACES Project Fund The ACES Project Fund is being raised with the major objective of supporting individual and group projects of department undergraduates. The fund is open for donations by ACES Alumni and the industry and is managed by a panel of staff members including the head of the depart- ment and the senior treasurer of ACES, and the executive committee of ACES. When a student is working on a project and he or she needs fund- ing to complete the project, he or she has to write a proposal with a bill of materials requesting for support from ACES project fund, after that, the panel will meet and evaluate such projects and if found appropriate, will cater the request. This fund becomes more useful for instances where University fund is hard to come by for various reasons including the financial regulations.
