The typical pipe age of most water main failures based on a detailed survey across the US ranges from 10 to 100 years and in some areas older pipes are still in use . The broad range of failure timing challenges utilities to target appropriate pipeline renewal timing and maintain levels of service for customers . Water main condition assessment and a successful condition assessment program will help utilities identify the appropriate rehabilitation for the situation and provide assurances that stakeholder ’ s rehabilitation dollars were spent wisely .
