Urban Agriculture
2:30–3:30 p.m.
Exhibit Hall—Booth #1420
Moderator: Kirsten Daniel
Urban agriculture has seen a global increase as resources in
urban areas are limited and there is a demand for fresh fruits
and vegetables. Panelists will speak to innovative approaches
to water use such as Aquaponics and Hydroponics, challenges
faced getting started and growing, and how urban agriculture can
sustain local communities, economies, and the environment.
TUE38
USDA Financial Assistance for Small Systems
3:15–4:30 p.m.
Room: Mile High Ballroom 4F
Track: Financing, Rates, and Affordability
Moderator: Darren Lytle
Rural communities have a critical need for water and waste
infrastructure (including wastewater, sewer, stormwater, and
waste disposal). Without affordable water and sanitation,
communities cannot sustain economic development or improve
the quality of life for their residents. Often, financial and technical
resources are unavailable to help small communities build or
maintain basic water facilities. The United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA) provides affordable financial assistance for
water infrastructure projects in small and rural communities and
assisting them with maintaining a financially viable system that
reflects the true cost of water.

Cheryl Francis, USDA Rural Utilities Service
