Track: Smart Water Utility
Moderator: Thomas Ceraso
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Work Order
Management Systems are two important management tools
that help operations work more smoothly. For one utility,
implementation of these systems has led to reduced opportunity
to mis-key records, eliminated some duplicative tasks, and will
eventually lead to management flexibility in assigning workers.
Hear from presenters how having living databases, records
and maps that update automatically are desirable; but showing
the public what you are doing provides the basis of support for
undertaking transformative missions like these and can actually
improve customer relations.

LIFT—Innovation in Action
11:30 a.m.–Noon
Exhibit Hall—Booth #1420
The Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology (LIFT) was formed
to accelerate innovation in water and help move new water
technologies and business processes into practice. LIFT works
with utilities and technology providers to successfully advance
innovation on a national and international level. This session
highlights four successful examples from the LIFT program,
including a pioneering project on Hydrothermal Processing of
Wastewater Solids (HYPOWERS), the first-place winner of the
2018 LIFT Intelligent Water Systems Challenge—the Great Lakes
Water Authority featuring an innovative stormwater management
approach, LIFT SEE IT scholarship program winners, and LIFT
International Partner—the Water Research Commission of
South Africa.
