This is reflected in the portfolio of General Performance induction and permanent magnet motors. Customers across a wide range of industries including water and wastewater, HVAC, mining and general machinery can now specify their ideal motor with almost immediate availability.
In developing our expanding portfolio of General Performance IEC LV motors, we have built on over 140 years of expertise and manufacturing know-how. This versatile portfolio now includes induction motors that offer IE3 Premium Efficiency and IE4 Super-Premium efficiency, as well as permanent magnet( PM) motors with IE5 Ultra-Premium efficiency. Our aim is to give customers fast access to motors that offer outstanding reliability and long lifetime, while they can easily be tailored to suit individual applications. Furthermore, our General Performance motors can be paired with ABB drives in perfectly matched motordrive packages for even greater energy savings.
One of the main benefits of the General Performance portfolio is that it enables customers to source the exact motors they need, especially when they need them“ right now”. Many standard designs are available off the shelf, enabling fast delivery. However, a wide range of options are also available and can be easily configured. Typical options include roller or insulated bearings, temperature sensors, foot or flange type, adding a rain cover or even changing the color. Thanks to our logistics system, most of these changes can be implemented in just one or two days.
Based on well-proven technology
General Performance motors are based on wellproven technology and constructed from high quality components to deliver the highest levels of reliability and performance. This includes a robust design with sturdy cast iron frames up to size 355 and high tensile steel shafts to ensure these motors can cope with the toughest conditions.
The motor bearings are high quality Series 62 or 63. Smaller models have sealed-for-life bearings, while larger sizes incorporate grease nipples. Axial locking at the drive end prevents axial play, reducing the risk of machine wear. Bearing clearances are designed to absorb temperature variations to reduce vibration.
Class F insulation combined with Class B temperature rise provides a useful safety margin. These motors offer generous overload capacity and are finished in a class C3 paint system for added protection.
