NEW ! Pearls and Pitfalls of Interpreting OCT ( 04SA6B )
Srinivas Sadda , MD , FARVO , Los Angeles , CA Saturday , 3:20 – 3:50 p . m . Credits : 0.50 IJCAHPO Description : This instructional course will review how to approach evaluating and interpreting OCT scans on patients with retinal disease . The course will begin with an overview of OCT technology and how it impacts interpretation . We will review common artifacts and errors that occur during the interpretation process . We will also go through a systematic approach to evaluating OCT images that can improve accuracy and reduce the chance of missing important information .

NEW ! Intraoperative Echographic Localization of Radiation Plaque ( 02SA4B )
M . Bernadete Ayres , MD , CDOS , ROUB , Ann Arbor , MI Ericca Nickles , COA , Ypsilanti , MI Saturday , 12:40 – 1:10 p . m . Credits : 0.50 IJCAHPO Description : Proper plaque positioning is essential for effective episcleral plaque brachytherapy for choroidal tumors and can be verified using ultrasound . Proper plaque placement over the tumor margins is essential to ensure adequate radiation dose delivery to the entire tumor and to spare healthy eye from the radiation field . This course will show our center ’ s protocol for intraoperative ultrasound verification of radioactive plaque placement . Mispositioned plaques identified on ultrasonography can be repositioned to cover tumor margins , mainly when there is concern about possible shifting or tilting . This will be an interactive course with an audio-visual demonstration of intraoperative ultrasound verification of plaque placement . The technique for intraoperative ultrasound is especially important for the new generation of ophthalmic echographers , who will be more readily trained in this imaging modality .
NEW ! Ultrasound Biomiscroscopy ( UBM ) Cases : Descriptive Interpretation ( 01FR6 )
Carla Blackburn , BSc , COMT , CDOS , ROUB , Nepean , ON , Canada Friday , 2:40 – 3:40 p . m . Credits : 1.00 IJCAHPO , CEP : CABRN-1 Description : This course will review UBM cases with view to recognizing normal anatomy and characteristic findings for common UBM indications .
NEW ! Ultrasound Characteristics of Intraocular Tumors ( 02SA4A )
Maria Bretana , CDOS , Katy , TX Saturday , 12:00 – 12:30 p . m . Credits : 0.50 IJCAHPO Description : This course will review the sonographic features of the most common benign and malignant tumors .
16 . Visual Fields BASIC
NEW ! Testing Visual Fields ( 01FR5 )
Jo Ann Giaconi , MD , Los Angeles , CA Michael Kapamajian , MD , Whittier , CA Friday , 1:20 – 2:20 p . m . Credits : 1.00 IJCAHPO , CEP : CABRN-1 Description : This course will review basic tenets of visual field testing for the technicians and also discuss the purposes of newer test strategies .
