editor’s note
The vision to make this bulletin as a reference material for promoting
education in tourism is still far to be achieved as more effort is needed to make
it into reality. It is a challenge for editorial committee to seek for a cutting-edge
work from contributors. This bulletin will be unique when many article
contributors present works that deal with basic and scientific aspects along
with practical issues and current travel trends. We are quite aware of some
gaps and weaknesses in this second release. The contribution from experts in
the field of tourism is very much desired with a critical view of current issues.
Through our careful selection of manuscripts, our goal is to present research
and development issues related to archaeotourism, Islamic tourism, urban
tourism and gastronomic with a very high quality output. Unfortunately, there
is lukewarm response towards academic discourse that gives critical reflection
or debate in this publication. I would like to refer to Kadir Din and Jabil Map-
jabil (2012) in their introductory note in the book of Pelancongan di Malaysia:
Isu-isu penyelidikan terpilih (Tourism in Malaysia: Selected research issues) on a number of important but noteworthy
topics such as visiting the ancestral sites, tracking Islamic heritage sites and tracing treasures of the past scholars that
would enhance knowledge, historical awareness and proliferate love for the homeland. Despite providing economic
returns to the country, the outcome of the finding can lead the ways and ideas to creating noble, courageous, honest
and wisdom citizens.
As I first imagined producing a faculty bulletin in 2009, a year later I was in an euphoric state that the first publication
was successfully implemented. However, its production ceased for a long period of time due to insurmountable
obstacles. Fortunately, in this 2nd issue a new team was formed despite various hurdles. We would like to thank the
contributors who have responded positively throughout the publication process especially to the guest writer Prof.
Dallen Timothy who patiently wait for this issue and Mr. Ismail Saidin. Not forgetting the Rector of UiTM Melaka for her
time to be interviewed and tourism lecturers who contributed articles.

On the cover
The cover of Access Voice of Tourism Education 2nd edition is inspired by the
main articles in this publication that touch the field of Heritage Tourism and the
Botanical facts of the Melaka tree. The model Nuramira Hafizah Samsidin in the
front and back cover is wearing a traditional baju kebaya that symbolizes the
aesthetics of the Malay culture. She is reading one of the literature treasures of
Malaysia written by the philosopher Za’ba that represents the love of knowledge
under the shade of the Melaka tree. The back cover further enhances the herit-
age theme of this publication by highlighting the beautiful Malay traditional
house located in Kampung Ketek, Melaka. Both of these pictures are made
possible by the talented photographer Siti Nadhirah Abdullah.
