ER wanted to compliment
the KINEKT series with higher
powered scanning options
to provide its clients with
versatile design options as

in programming – the result
was the ATOLLA range of RGB
Diode Lasers, named after the
‘luminescent jellyfish’, which
comprises of the AT-10, AT-20
and AT-30.
All AT series lasers have
in-built FB4, as well as gigabit
network switches for linking
of systems. Network and DMX

have the KINEKT bracket on

connect fixtures quickly and
easily. “Combined, the KINEKT
and ATOLLA series is the most
advanced modular laser system
in the world,” says Hagan.
The AT range was launched
in time for Tame Impala’s
mesmerising set at Coachella,
in April 2019, with 34 AT30s,
forming part of an astounding
1020w laser show, one of ER’s
most powerful shows to date.
“We are always looking at how
we can work sustainably and
be as eco-friendly as possible
within the industry. With this
in mind, we also developed
the TYPHOON, a CO2-free
bio-degradable confetti blower
that uses only fans. TYPHOON
has been specifically designed
to reduce the amount of
greenhouse gas emitted in the
industry. This was debuted as
part of a full mix of exciting
SFX and Lasers at Ozzfest, the
sell-out New Year Eve event on
31st December 2018, at the LA
Forum.”

SOUND AND EFFECTS
Elsewhere, sound is
influencing the way effects are
approached. Championed by
DJs worldwide, Polygon Live
is fast becoming one of the
most discussed music arenas
at Wonderfruit festival at The
Fields at Siam Country Club,
Thailand, but this year the stage
deploys an L-ISA audio processor
that gives performers the ability
to perfectly spatialize sounds
within but also to physically
move sounds around a space.
With L-ISA they have added
the quality of movement to the
48
traditional building blocks of
music; timbre, pitch, rhythm
and tempo.
Dr. Christian Heil, CEO and
founder of L’Acoustics explains:
“Today at concerts we should
instead be asking, ‘Why is the
sound not spatialised?’ Until
recently, the answer to this
question was because we didn’t
have a user-friendly and cost-
effective ecosystem to reproduce
natural, 3D sound.”
Polygon will appear for the
third time at Wonderfruit this
year, hosting an array of cutting
edge technology and innovation.
Scent dispersion, pyrotechnics
and tubed LED lighting will
coalesce around a bamboo
stage designed by the globally
renowned lighting designers
and architects, Visual Systems.
OPENING STATEMENT
Elsewhere, Protec have upped
their SFX and pyrotechnics
finesse, delivering IDEX’s Silver
Jubilee opening ceremony.
“The IDEX opening ceremony
was packed with movie grade
special effects, pyrotechnics
and working waterfalls, the
blockbuster style performance
took place in a 60m x 350m
custom stage set built over a car
park overlooked by a grandstand
in Abu Dhabi. Protec delivered
everything from the initial
creative concept and narrative to
the original set design, graphics,
build, complete show delivery
and coordination completely
transporting the audience to
an active ‘war zone’ where the
story takes place,” said Eimear
O’Brien.
