SEPTEMBER 2018 | INTRO...
What can we expect from the next
iteration of the Festival and Outdoor
Events Show? Duncan Siegle reveals all
Duncan Siegle,
Event Director
and security, be that physical,
mental, structural or protecting
from terror. And this is a
real theme for this year’s
show. Some of the highlights
include a discussion with Jon
Drape about Festival Safe,
highlighting personal safety.
The PSA are talking about
mental health and well being
and, new for this year, we have
a full two day programme
of complimentary training,
curated by STORM4Events –
lined up by serious and serial
industry professionals covering
the entire spectrum of safety
and security.
However, there’s a lot more
than that. We are the Fair
return to discuss key industry
issues on independent festivals
and how we can garner more
A
s we look forward to
the second outing
of The Festival
and Outdoor Events Show
(Festout) at Sandown Park we
can also look back at another
fantastic summer of outdoor
events throughout the UK,
and the successes and problems
the industry has faced and
overcome. There’s no middle
ground with the UK weather
it seems – either too cold
(don’t mention The Beast from
the East), windy, wet or, for
heaven’s sake, too hot – and all
these provide different issues
for our organisers and suppliers
to overcome. Try as you
might, you can’t plan for every
eventuality.
There’s also never too much
planning for health, safety
support from government for
what is becoming a stand out
business sector in the UK, and
we’ll be looking at the creation
and development of Set Live’s
experiential for the likes of
Google. So plenty to learn
from.
Alongside all this we have
approximately 150 exhibitors
lined up with the latest
products and services to help
create your perfect event in
2019 and, also new for this
year, TechFest – an area
dedicated to helping you see,
learn from and use the latest
technology at your disposal.
Events are not just about
the acts and performers – the
whole experience is essential
for an events success – and
with so many new events each
year, security and safety are
of paramount importance.
So no matter if you are an
experienced hand or new kid
on the block, get yourself
down to Sandown Park on
26th and 27th September – we
guarantee you’ll see or hear
something you’ve never seen
before that will enhance your
events in 2019.
Turn up, join in and Festout!
