Welcome to the summer edition of Access All Areas in which we kick off the season by celebrating landmark shows that have put the UK ’ s live events industry centre stage in front of a worldwide TV audience amounting to hundreds of millions .
We explore what was involved in staging the Coronation Concert ( p8 ), hear from Westminster City Council special projects lead Katherine Eaton ( p10 ) about the huge collaborative effort that went into Operation Golden Orb on 6 May , and go behind the scenes at Eurovision ( p53 ).
With the sun finally having made an appearance and with two huge events behind us , momentum is building ahead of a packed summer of shows . On page 20 , we explore the new event concepts being launched this year ; including the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Scotland and Stadium Golf .
Continuing the focus on the new , we examine what the opening of eight proposed arenas within the next few years will mean for the UK ’ s arenas sector ( p31 ), we hear from young event professionals about how they would like to see the industry evolve ( p55 ), and we explore the latest marketing methods ( p37 ) used to sell tickets to new and emerging audiences .
We also hear from Josie and Rob da Bank as they mark 15-years of ground-breaking family festival Camp Bestival ( p43 ).
This year may not be the easiest for event professionals but there is plenty to celebrate and much to do . I hope you find time to take a moment to enjoy this issue .
