Incheon to see major new arena
A new 15,000-capacity , multi-purpose , arena is set to open in the city of Icheon , in Gyeonggi Province , in the autumn of this year . The Arena at Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort is expected to attract around 4 million people per year to a variety of live shows including K-pop concerts , festivals , touring family shows and major sports tournaments . “ Given the strong demand for K-pop and other live performances , Korea ’ s performing art industry has long been facing a shortage of high-quality venues that can support shows of top-tier artists from home and abroad , and various cultural events ,” said Mohegan CEO and president Ray Pineault .
Splendour In The Grass fined $ 100k
New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment ordered a company behind the 50,000-capacity Splendour in The Grass festival to pay AUS $ 100,000 (£ 56,000 ) to local schools after inclement weather led to traffic chaos during last year ’ s event on 22-24 July . Flooding on site meant the first day of performances had to be cancelled , and entry to the site delayed , leading to congested traffic blocking parts of the local M1 Pacific Motorway . As a result , there were significant delays to traffic including school buses . Billinudgel Property , the owner and operator of the North Byron Parklands festival site , was ordered to pay $ 10,000 each to 10 schools situated within a 10km radius of the venue .
